This project presents a wireless battery charging system for electric vehicles based on inductive power transfer.

This project presents a wireless battery charging system for electric vehicles based on inductive power transfer. The system eliminates the need for physical connectors by transmitting electrical energy through an air gap using coupled coils. A step-down transformer and regulated power supply provide the required DC input, which is converted into high-frequency AC using a DC–AC converter. This AC signal energizes the transmitting coil, creating a magnetic field that induces voltage in the receiving coil placed at a short distance. The received AC power is then converted into DC using an AC–DC converter and further regulated through a boost converter to meet the changing requirements of a Li-ion battery. A battery level indicator is integrated to monitor the charging status. The proposed system ensures safe, efficient, and convenient charging, reducing wear and tear associated with wired connections and supporting the advancement of smart and automated electric vehicle infrastructure.      

The main objectives of the project are:

ï‚· To design and develop a wireless power transfer system for charging electric vehicle batteries.

ï‚· To eliminate physical connections and improve user convenience and safety.

ï‚· To implement efficient inductive coupling between transmitting and receiving coils.

 To convert and regulate power using DC–AC and AC–DC converters for stable charging.

ï‚· To integrate a boost converter for maintaining required battery charging voltage.

ï‚· To ensure efficient energy transfer across an air gap with minimal losses.

ï‚· To monitor battery status using a battery level indicator.

ï‚· To develop a cost-effective and reliable charging solution for EV applications.
