The increasing demand for reliable electrical power systems requires fast and accurate transmission line fault detection. This project presents an IoT-based Transmission Line Fault Detection System using an Arduino UNO, ESP8266 Wi-Fi module, and ThingSpeak for real-time monitoring. The system detects faults such as line-to-line, line-to-ground, open circuit, and over/under voltage conditions. Fault detection is based on Ohm's Law, where voltage variations across a resistor network help identify the fault location. A 16×2 LCD displays the fault type, while a buzzer and relay provide instant alerts and protection. A GPS module sends the fault location along with the date and time for easy maintenance. The detected fault data is uploaded to the ThingSpeak cloud platform for remote monitoring. The system is cost-effective, reliable, and suitable for smart grid and IoT-based transmission line fault monitoring applications.

Objectives of the Project:
  1. To detect transmission line faults such as line-to-line, line-to-ground, and open circuit faults.
  2. To monitor over-voltage and under-voltage conditions in the transmission line.
  3. To identify the fault location using voltage measurement based on Ohm's Law.
  4. To display the fault information on an LCD and provide alerts using a buzzer.
  5. To upload real-time fault data to the ThingSpeak cloud using the ESP8266 Wi-Fi module.
  6. To provide GPS-based fault location with date and time for quick maintenance and monitoring.
