The main aim of the project is to design a thermal cycling device which uses for testing dental devices using thermoelectric as heating and cooling element. The thermoelectric could release heat to testing material and absorb heat from testing material uniformly, respectively, was called as heating and cooling process. Hence, thermoelectric had to be supported by a microcontroller-based control device to change its polarity so, it could heat and cool testing material alternately and automatically. On the other hand, the thermoelectric was cheap, easy to be found and available in markets. It can be concluded that new method of thermal cycling test by using thermoelectric as source of heating and cooling can be a new reference for performing thermal cycling test on testing material.
This project makes a use of Arduino UNO microcontroller, the main controlling device of the project. In this project we are using two POTs to set the temperature of liquid solutions which can be uses to cool and heat the testing dental material. Second POT, which uses to set the time to dip the testing dental material into the heat and cool solutions at a duration of time automatically using Robotic ARM which is controlled by the Arduino using servo motors. Peltier plate is uses to produce the heat and cold to the pads. Arduino can measure the temperature values of cooling pad, heating pad, cooling solution and heating solution using sensors will be display on LCD. The microcontroller is programmed using Arduino IDE software.
