Nowadays, automated systems are widely used in various fields due to their accuracy, reliability, flexibility, and reduced need for manual operation. The main aim of this project, “Highly Sensitive Alcohol Sensor with Automatic Car Ignition Disable Function,” is to detect alcohol in the air exhaled by the driver and automatically disable the vehicle’s ignition if the detected alcohol level exceeds a predefined threshold. Drunk driving is a major cause of road accidents, injuries, and fatalities, affecting both drivers and other road users. To address this problem, the proposed system uses an Arduino microcontroller interfaced with an alcohol sensor to detect alcohol concentration and convert the sensor output into a readable value for comparison with the predefined threshold. If the detected alcohol level exceeds the permitted limit, the controller disables the ignition mechanism through a suitable relay or motor driver interface, preventing the vehicle from starting or stopping the demonstration motor in the prototype. An LCD displays the system status, while a buzzer provides an audible warning to alert the driver. This system offers a simple, cost-effective, and reliable approach to reducing the risk of alcohol-related driving accidents and promoting road safety.

Features:
  • Detects alcohol concentration in the air exhaled by the driver using an alcohol sensor.
  • Uses an Arduino microcontroller for data processing and system control.
  • Compares the detected alcohol level with a predefined threshold value.
  • Automatically disables the ignition system when the alcohol level exceeds the set limit.
  • Displays alcohol detection status and system information on an LCD.
  • Activates a buzzer to provide an audible warning when alcohol is detected above the threshold.
  • Uses a relay or motor driver interface to control the ignition mechanism or prototype DC motor.
  • Provides automatic operation with minimal human intervention.
  • Helps reduce the risk of accidents caused by drunk driving.
  • Offers a simple, low-cost, and easy-to-implement solution for vehicle safety.
