The purpose of this project is to design and develop an IoT-based Smart Pillow system for improving sleep quality and monitoring the sleeping condition of a person or patient. The system uses modern Internet of Things technology to provide intelligent monitoring and automatic comfort features. An Arduino microcontroller acts as the main controller and interfaces with various input and output modules such as a touch sensor, MPU6050 gyroscope sensor, sound detection sensor, ESP8266 Wi-Fi module, vibration motor, music system, SD card reader, and speaker. The MPU6050 sensor is used to monitor and analyze the sleeping position and movements of the patient, and the collected data is uploaded to the ThingSpeak cloud platform through Wi-Fi for remote monitoring and analysis. The sound sensor detects snoring, and when abnormal snoring is detected, the system automatically activates a vibration motor and pleasant music to help improve the sleeping condition. A touch sensor detects the presence of a person on the pillow and automatically activates the music system for relaxation. The music system can also be manually controlled using an ON/OFF switch and plays audio files stored on an SD card through a speaker. The proposed Smart Pillow provides an intelligent, automated, and user-friendly solution for sleep monitoring and comfort enhancement. This system can be especially useful for elderly people, bed patients, physically challenged persons, and individuals requiring continuous sleep monitoring and care. The entire system is controlled through a program developed using the Arduino IDE, making the proposed system a simple, low-cost, and effective IoT-based healthcare and sleep monitoring solution.
