The main aim of this project is to develop a self-charging electric bicycle that operates using both electric power and manual pedaling. The bicycle is driven by a Permanent Magnet DC (PMDC) motor mounted on the rear wheel, which provides propulsion in electric mode. The system consists of a rechargeable battery, motor controller, throttle, and key switch for controlling the operation of the bicycle. A wheel-driven dynamo is attached to the rear wheel and connected to a charging circuit, enabling the battery to be charged while the bicycle is in motion. The generated electrical energy is rectified and regulated before being stored in the battery. Manual pedaling allows the rider to continue travelling even when the battery charge is low, providing dual-mode operation. By combining electric drive, manpower through pedaling, and self-charging through the dynamo, the system reduces dependence on external charging sources, improves energy utilization, and provides an economical and eco-friendly transportation solution.
