The Ultrasonic Sensor Based Travel Assistant for Blind People is a simple, low-cost, and portable embedded system designed to help visually impaired people move safely and independently. The system is built using a PIC microcontroller, an ultrasonic sensor, buzzer, LED indicator, crystal oscillator, reset button, and a battery power supply. In this project, all the electronic components are compactly mounted on a wearable cap (CAP), making the device lightweight, comfortable, and easy to use while walking. The ultrasonic sensor continuously detects obstacles in front of the user by measuring the distance between the cap and nearby objects. The PIC microcontroller processes the sensor data and determines the proximity of obstacles. When an obstacle is detected within a predefined range, the microcontroller activates the buzzer through a buzzer driver and turns on the LED indicator to provide an immediate warning. As the user approaches the obstacle, the buzzer beeps more frequently, allowing the user to recognize the distance and avoid collisions. This wearable travel assistant improves the mobility, confidence, and safety of blind and visually impaired individuals by providing real-time obstacle detection. The cap-based design is portable, energy-efficient, and user-friendly, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments. The proposed system offers an affordable and effective solution for enhancing independent navigation and reducing the risk of accidents for visually impaired people.          

The major features of this project are:  

  Real-Time Obstacle Detection: Uses an ultrasonic sensor to continuously detect obstacles ahead and alerts the user through a buzzer and LED indicator for safe navigation.

  Wearable Cap-Based Design: All components are integrated into a lightweight, battery-powered cap, making the system portable, comfortable, and easy for visually impaired users to wear and operate.
