The project aim is to design a device controlling system through android smart phone. The devices can be controlled wirelessly (Bluetooth communication) through the android smart phone. Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. Android boasts a healthy array of connectivity options, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and wireless data over a cellular connection (for example, GPRS, EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution) and 3G). Android provides access to a wide range of useful libraries and tools that can be used to build rich applications. Bluetooth is an open standard specification for a radio frequency (RF)-based, short-range connectivity technology that promises to change the face of computing and wireless communication. It is designed to be an inexpensive, wireless networking system for all classes of portable devices, such as laptops, PDAs (personal digital assistants), and mobile phones. The input and output port of the controller are interfaced with different input and output modules depending on the requirements. In other words, microcontroller acts as a communication medium for all the modules involved in the project. The project consists of a Bluetooth Modem, Micro Controller and 4 relay circuit.  The input to control the devices (ON/OFF) will be fed to android smart phone. The android smart phone transmits the data over Bluetooth, which will be received by the Bluetooth modem connected to the microcontroller. The microcontroller reads the data and acts accordingly on the relay circuit to control the devices. The microcontroller is loaded with a program written in embedded ‘C’ language.

The main objectives of the project are:
  1. Operating the loads through voice by using mobile phone.
  2. Bluetooth wireless transmission.
  3. Using Arduino UNO to achieve this task.
The major building blocks of the project are:
  • Regulated power supply with voltage regulator.
  • Bluetooth module.
  • Arduino UNO Microcontroller
  • 4-Relay board
  • 4-BULBS.
  • Android mobile
    Software’s used:
  1. Arduino IDE Studio compiler for Embedded C programming.
  2. Express SCH for Circuit design.
