The Early Flood Detection System and Alerting Through IoT Using Arduino is designed to detect rising water levels at an early stage and provide timely information to users. The system uses water level, ultrasonic, water flow, and temperature and humidity sensors to monitor environmental and water conditions. The Arduino microcontroller collects and processes the sensor data and displays the information on an LCD. An ESP8266 Wi-Fi module is used to transmit the collected data to the ThingSpeak IoT platform for remote monitoring. When the water level or flow reaches a critical condition, the system can provide an early warning to help reduce the risk of flood-related damage. The proposed system provides a simple, low-cost, and continuous method for real-time flood monitoring and early alerting using IoT technology.          

Objectives:  
  1. To detect the water level at an early stage using water level and ultrasonic sensors.
  2. To monitor water flow rate and identify abnormal increases that may indicate flooding.
  3. To measure temperature and humidity to monitor environmental conditions.
  4. To process sensor data using an Arduino microcontroller and display the readings on an LCD.
  5. To transmit real-time flood monitoring data to the ThingSpeak IoT platform using ESP8266.
  6. To provide early warnings when water level or flow reaches a critical condition.
  7. To develop a low-cost, continuous, and reliable IoT-based flood monitoring system.
           

The main building blocks of the project are:  
  • Power supply.

  • Water flow sensor.
  • Water level sensor.
  • Ultrasonic sensor.
  • DHT11
  • ESP8266WI-FI module.
  • LCD display.
       

Software’s used:  
  1. Arduino IDE for compiling and dumping code into Microcontroller
  2. Express SCH for Circuit design.
