The PIR and GSM Based Home Security System is a smart security solution designed to protect homes by detecting unauthorized human movement and immediately notifying the owner. The system uses a PIR (Passive Infrared) sensor to detect the presence of a person by sensing body heat. A microcontroller continuously monitors the PIR sensor and controls the overall operation of the system. When motion is detected, the microcontroller activates a buzzer through a buzzer driver to provide an instant local alarm. At the same time, it communicates with a GSM modem to send an SMS alert and make a phone call to the registered mobile number, informing the owner about the possible intrusion. This enables quick action even when the user is away from home. The system is powered by a regulated power supply and offers a simple, reliable, and cost-effective solution for residential security. By combining motion detection, local alarm, and remote GSM-based notification, the project enhances home safety and provides real-time alerts, making it suitable for houses, offices, shops, and other secured areas.

The main objectives of the project are:

  To detect unauthorized human movement using a PIR sensor.

  To alert nearby people by activating a buzzer when motion is detected.

  To send an SMS and make a phone call to the registered mobile number using a GSM modem.

  To provide a simple, reliable, and low-cost home security system.

  To enhance the safety and security of homes, offices, and shops through real-time intrusion alerts.

The Major building blocks of this project are:
  1. Regulated Power Supply
  2. Microcontroller
  3. GSM Modem.
  4. PIR Sensor.
