Smoking in public places and designated no-smoking zones poses serious health risks and violates public safety regulations. This project presents a Smart Smoking Violation Detection System with Photo Email Alert that automatically detects smoking-related incidents and immediately notifies the concerned authorities. The system is built around an ESP32-CAM, which integrates image capture, wireless communication, and processing capabilities into a compact and cost-effective solution. The system uses a smoke sensor to detect the presence of cigarette smoke and a fire sensor to identify the flame of a lighter or burning cigarette. When both conditions indicate a possible smoking violation, the ESP32-CAM captures a photograph of the location and automatically sends an email alert with the captured image to the authorized personnel through a Wi-Fi network. At the same time, a red LED and buzzer are activated to provide an immediate local warning, helping security staff respond quickly. The entire system operates from a regulated power supply and performs continuous monitoring with minimal human intervention. By combining real-time smoke detection, flame sensing, image capture, and instant email notification, the proposed system enhances surveillance and improves the enforcement of no-smoking regulations in public buildings, hospitals, educational institutions, offices, railway stations, airports, and other restricted areas. This project provides an intelligent, low-cost, and IoT-based solution for automated smoking violation detection, improving public health, safety, and regulatory compliance through real-time monitoring and remote notification.

The objectives of the project include:
  • To detect smoking violations in no-smoking zones using smoke and fire sensors.
  • To capture the violator's photo using the ESP32-CAM.
  • To send an email alert with the captured photo to the concerned authority.
  • To provide an instant local alert using a buzzer and LED.
  • To improve safety and enforce no-smoking regulations through automatic monitoring.
  • To develop a low-cost, IoT-based smart surveillance system.
The major building blocks of this project are:
  • Regulated power supply.
  • ESP32 Camera.
  • MQ-2 Gas sensor.
  • FIRE Sensor.
  • Buzzer.
  • RED LED.
