17,500.00

This project focuses on the fabrication of a solar energy-based seawater desalination machine utilizing Reverse Osmosis (RO) and UV purification technologies.

The increasing demand for fresh water and the depletion of natural water resources have led to the need for efficient and sustainable desalination methods. This project focuses on the fabrication of a solar energy-based seawater desalination machine utilizing Reverse Osmosis (RO) and UV purification technologies. The system is designed to convert seawater into potable water using renewable energy, making it an eco-friendly and cost-effective solution for water purification in remote and off-grid areas. The proposed system consists of a solar panel, which powers the booster pump, UV lamp, and filtration components through a battery and charger circuit. The seawater undergoes a series of filtration stages, including sediment filtration, pre-carbon filtration, post-carbon filtration, and ultrafiltration, before passing through the RO membrane, which removes dissolved salts and contaminants. The purified water is then exposed to UV light for disinfection, followed by mineral enhancement using a minerals cartridge to improve water quality. This system ensures a sustainable, efficient, and portable water purification process, making it suitable for coastal areas, disaster relief operations, and remote communities where clean drinking water is scarce. The integration of solar energy eliminates dependency on conventional power sources, reducing operational costs and enhancing the system's feasibility for widespread deployment.

Objectives:
  1. To develop a solar-powered seawater desalination system.
